COUNCIL PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to our PTA website which has been designed as a tool for all of our Islip PTA Unit’s to share information with our families, district staff, and the community.  I know as you navigate the website, you will each find it very informative, user friendly, and a helpful resource tool throughout the year.  It is important for you to view our many PTA upcoming events and meetings.  Please consider participating in our educational and parent awareness programs that are presented throughout the school year.

The PTA is respectful of the time demands that both work and home present, and request that you consider giving of your time in any manner that is possible.  It can be as simple as giving of your time to cut up decorations while at home during the evening, or making reminder calls to PTA families when events are to take place, or to participate on a committee event that is held either during the day or the evening.

As we face the year ahead, I would like to emphasize the need for your continued support of our youngsters and young adults. The PTA recognizes that every child deserves excellence in both educational opportunities and in their quality of life. The Islip PTA maintains its commitment to service all children and to its membership through increased parent and community awareness, advocacy, educational and parent involvement programs.

Each of us plays a vital role in creating a better world for our children and the community in which we live.  The PTA provides many valuable programs that enhance the educational experience for all Islip students.  Each PTA unit is proud to bring thousands of educational dollars into your child’s school through theater programs, author/illustrators, poets, artists, books, self-esteem, drug awareness, cyber bullying, Reflections, Parents as Reading Partners (PARP), family fun nights and many more health and safety programs.

Did you know that each year the High School, Middle School, Special Education, Commack Road, Sherwood and Wing PTAs recognize and grant scholarship dollars to 25+ graduating seniors.  This only happens through the hard work and dedication of the membership of each of these PTA units.

The specific PTA unit’s membership information may be available on the website, or through either the PTA or Principal’s newsletter, a flyer sent via backpack express or simply by attending a PTA meeting.

The PTA will continue to be a relevant resource for parents as well as an advocate for the children of the Islip Public Schools.  Again, please consider joining your school PTA—your membership dollars alone help us to have a stronger voice for our children.

I look forward to working with you in the near future.

Respectfully,
Laura Paehr
President, Islip PTA Council
