Islip High School PTSA Dear Parents, If you have not already become a member, membership letters and envelopes are available in the Main Office. Dues are $10 per parent and $5 for students. Please have your student return the envelopes to the PTSA mailbox in the main office. We had an overwhelming response to the National PTA Reflections competition. This year’s theme was “Beauty is…”. We received 60 entries in the categories of Photography, Literature, Visual Arts, Film Production and Dance Choreography. The judges had a very difficult decision since there were so many excellent entries. The following entries were forwarded on to the Suffolk Region PTA level: Photography: Kaitlyn Rizzo, Alexandra Ianaconi, Jacqueline Bahnsen; Literature: Haven Alba, D’Anna Cervone, Nicholas Basile; Visual Arts: Brittany Chappas, Victoria Sanders, Steven Pham; Film Production: Brittany Berger; and Dance Choreography: Giovanna Ianaconi. For Red Ribbon week, the PTA sponsored a table where the students signed a banner to pledge to stay drug free in exchange for a raffle tickets and a chance to win some great gift cards. There were also lots of giveaways. Our first Fashion Show committee meeting was held. We need help in a variety of areas, including setup and donations of raffle baskets and refreshments. Please contact Joy Griffin ( ggrif22602@aol.com ) if you are interested in getting involved. We are always looking for volunteers to help out in any way you can on our many committees. We would love to hear any new ideas you may have that will enhance the learning experience for all of our students. Please feel free to drop a note in the PTSA mailbox or send an email to mefranchi@yahoo.com so we can explore these suggestions with you.
