BELIEVE IN YOURSELF
Set your standards high
You deserve the best
Try for what you want
And never settle for less

Believe in yourself
No matter what you choose
Keep a winning attitude
And you can never lose.

Think about your destination
But don’t worry if you stray
Because the most important thing
Is what you’ve learned along the way

Take all that you’ve become
To be all that you can be
Soar above the clouds
And let your dreams set you free

CONSIDER THIS
Born prematurely and left in the care of his grandparents, Sir Isaac Newton was taken out of school early and became an inept farm boy. Now he is considered one of the greatest figures in the entire history of science. (from "A 5th Portion of Chicken Soup for the Soul" )

Leon Uris, author of the bestseller Exodus, failed high school English three times.

Woody Allen-Academy Award winning writer, producer and director- flunked motion picture production at New York University and the City College of New York. He also failed English at New York University!

TAKE SOME TIME
Take some time to smell the flowers
As you walk the paths of life,
Take some time to ease the tensions
From the challenges and strife.

Take some time to hear the birds sing
As they usher in the dawn.
Though the day be just emerging,
Too soon it will be gone.

from: Leon Hansen, "A 6th Bowl of Chicken Soup for the Soul"

A PRICELESS STORY
At the Seattle Special Olympics, nine contestants, all physically or mentally disabled, assembled at the starting line for the 100-yard dash.

At the gun, they all started out, not exactly in a dash, but with a relish to run the race to the finish and win. All that is, except one little boy who stumbled on the asphalt, tumbled over a couple of times and began to cry. The other eight heard the boy cry. They slowed down and looked back. Then they all turned around and went back...everyone of them. One girl with Down's Syndrome bent down and kissed him and said, " This will make it better".

Then all nine linked arms and walked together to the finish line. Everyone in the stadium stood, people were still telling the story... Why? Because deep down we know this one thing: what matters in this life is more than winning for ourselves. What really matters is helping others win, even if it means slowing down and changing course.

A FAVORITE QUOTE:
"Together, we can watch them sprout wings and fly!"

POEM:
FROM "WHERE THE SIDE WALK ENDS"

No Difference
small as a peanut
big as a giant
we're all the same size
when we turn out the light!!

 rich as a sultan
poor as a mite
we're all worth  the same
when we turn off the light

red, black or orange
yellow or white
we all look the same
when we turn off the light.

so maybe the way
to make everything right
is for God to reach out
and turn off the light!
